Agricultural Survey [ag/oth]
The FAO has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). Data was collected between the 23 July and 26th of August 2022. The survey targeted the provinces of: Badakhshan, Badghis, Balkh, Bamyan, Daykundi, Farah, Faryab, Ghazni, Ghor, Hilmand, Hirat, Jawzjan, Kabul, Kandahar, Khost, Kunar, Kunduz, Maidan Wardak, Nangarhar, Nimroz, Nuristan, Paktika, Parwan, Samangan and Takhar. This fifth-round survey reached a random sample of 6019 households in 25 provinces.

This fifth-round survey reached a random sample of 6019 households in 25 provinces, representative at administrative level 1. The survey targeted the provinces of: Badakhshan, Badghis, Balkh, Bamyan, Daykundi, Farah, Faryab, Ghazni, Ghor, Hilmand, Hirat, Jawzjan, Kabul, Kandahar, Khost, Kunar, Kunduz, Maidan Wardak, Nangarhar, Nimroz, Nuristan, Paktika, Parwan, Samangan and Takhar. The targeted households were randomly selected using two-step cluster sampling and probability proportional to size. Rural households were surveyed face-to-face to monitor the impacts of shocks on livelihoods and food security.
Data were weighted by demographics and a wealth proxy (type of toilet). Sampling weights were computed to account for the disproportionate probabilities of the selection of the population per administrative level 1. Population figures at administrative level 1, the proportion of agricultural households at administrative level 1. The wealth proxy (type of toilet) was used for sampling weights.
