<p>The criteria for collecting economic data about the population are:</p>
<div class="i1">- Minimum age: 7<br />- Reference period: the week before Census Day</div><p>The population's economic characteristics being researched in the census are the type of activity, the principal occupation, the branch of economic activity, and the occupational category or job position (see Appendix).</p>

<p><span class="em">43. Occupational category</span>
<br />The occupational categories are defined as follows:</p>
<div class="i1">1. Laborer: This is a paid worker who performs a predominantly manual occupation (performs physical labor) and who works for a public or private employer, for which the worker is remunerated with money or in kind. For example: construction workers or farm workers.<br />1. Employee: This is a person who performs a predominantly intellectual occupation and who works for a public or private employer, for which the worker is paid with money or in kind. For example: an office secretary, schoolteacher, or public employee.<br />2. Freelance worker: This is a person who has their own company or business, with no paid employees and without answering to a boss or employer. For example: tailor, carpenter, street vendor, or plumber.<br />3. Employer or partner: The owner of and/or partner in a company, economic unit, or business that provides goods and/or services, which must have one or more temporary or permanent paid workers. For example: owners of factories, large or medium-sized workshops, lawyers with employees, and building contractors.<br />4. Unpaid apprentice or family worker: This is a person who, whether a member of the household or not, performs some economic or service activity without receiving any monetary or in-kind remuneration in return.<br />5. Domestic worker: This is a person who provides domestic services in a home in exchange for periodic remuneration (in money or in kind).<br />6. Member of a production or service cooperative: This is someone who, as a member, works actively in a cooperative business, receiving income or assuming losses in their capacity as a member.</div><p>The question about occupational category is closed-ended and allows only one answer.
