<svar a="all" v="BR60A006"><span class="h3">Question C - Condition of ownership</span><br /><br />The response to this question should be:<br /><br /><div class="i1"><span class="em">Owned by resident</span> - When the family group lives in a dwelling it owns, even if the land does not belong to the family group;<br /><span class="em">Rented</span> - When the dwelling is rented;<br /><span class="em">Other</span> - When a family lives in a dwelling which is neither its own nor rented.</div><br /><br />The dwellings of farm workers living on farms where they exercise their occupations, if not rented, will be classified as <span class="em">Other</span> condition, even if they have been built by the residents.<br /></svar>

Description

Definition
This variable indicates whether a member of the household owned the housing unit. Households that acquired their unit with a mortgage or other lending arrangement were understood to "own" their unit even if they had not yet completed repayment. For those that did not own their housing unit, several options were possible: renting (from various types of owners), subletting, usufruct, and de facto occupation.
