<svar a="all" v="BR60A417"><span class="h3">Question P - (1st part) If the [person] lives in the company of wife, husband, common-law spouse, consort, etc. - indicate the nature of the union</span><br /><br />Question P is divided into two distinct parts; each person age 10 or over will answer only one of the parts.<br />The first part will be answered only by those who live in the company of a wife or husband and refers to the nature of the union with the spouse with whom the person currently lives (on the Date of the Census).<br />One of the following answers should be marked:<br /><br /><div class="i1"><span class="em">Civil and religious marriage</span> - for persons who are married civilly and religiously;<br /><span class="em">Only civil marriage</span> - For those who are married civilly without there having been a religious ceremony;<br /><span class="em">Only religious marriage</span> - For those who are married only religiously;<br /><span class="em">Other</span> - For those who are not married either civilly or religiously.</div><br /><br />It should be noted that a ceremony held in any religion or sect should be considered a religious wedding.<br /><br /><span class="em">Question P - (2nd Part) If [the respondent] does not live in the company of wife, husband, common-law spouse, consort, etc. - indicate whether he or she is:</span><br />In the 2nd part of Question P (which will be answered only by those who do not live in the company of spouse), the enumerator should indicate one of the following:<br /><br /><span class="pg">[p. 33]</span><br /><br /><div class="i1"><span class="em">Single</span> - for those who have not contracted a civil or religious matrimony and do not live in the company of spouse;<br /><span class="em">Separated</span> - for married persons (married civilly, civilly and religiously, or only religiously) who have separated without a legal separation or a ratified divorce and do not live in the company of another spouse;<br /><span class="em">Legally separated</span> [<span class="lang">desquitado</span>] - for those who have ratified this marital status and do not live in the company of another spouse;<br /><span class="em">Divorced</span> - for those who, having married pursuant to foreign law, have obtained a divorce and do not live in the company of another spouse;<br /><span class="em">Widow or widower</span> - for any person whose spouse has died, when they were united by a civil, a civil and religious, or only a religious marriage and do not live in the company of another spouse.</div><br /></svar>
