<p>The box referring to the color of the person being enumerated should be marked with an X. The color Yellow applies only to persons of the yellow ethnic race (Japanese, Chinese, etc. and their descendants). It does not apply to persons who have yellowish skin, such as those who suffer from malaria, hookworm disease, etc.
<br />Only those aborigines who live in native villages or reservations [<span class="lang">posto indígena</span>] should be indicated as "Indian." For aborigines who live outside native villages or reservations [<span class="lang">postos indígenas</span>], Box Number 27 (Brown) should be marked. Those who declare themselves mulattos, civilized Indians and mixed white-and-Indian] [<span class="lang">cabloclos</span>], mixed black and Indian [<span class="lang">cafuzos</span>], etc. should also be indicated for Box 27 (Brown).
