<br />The housing portion consists of the following:</p>
<div class="i1">B1 to B5 -- Questions on building/house characteristics<br /><br />[] D1 -- Floor area of the housing unit<br />[] H1 -- Fuel for lighting<br />[] H2 -- Fuel for cooking<br />[] H3 -- Source of water supply for drinking, cooking, laundry and/or bathing<br />[] H4 -- Tenure status of the housing unit<br />[] H5 -- Acquisition of the housing unit<br />[] H6 -- Source of financing of the housing unit<br />[] H7 -- Monthly rental of the housing unit<br />[] H8 -- Tenure status of the lot<br />[] H9 -- Usual manner of garbage disposal<br />[] H10 -- Kind of toilet facility<br />[] H11 -- Land ownership</div><p>Refer to the general instructions in Section 7.7 of Chapter 7 (page 131) for one housing unit with more than one household.

<br />To ask the questions correctly, follow the instructions for each item of CPH Form 3. The rationale and/or importance of each item are explained.</p>
<p><span class="em">H3-Source of Water Supply for Drinking, Cooking, Laundry, and/or Bathing</span>
<br />Information on the main source of drinking water provides the number of households with ready access to potable water supply, as well as the availability of piped water for each housing unit. The provision of a piped water installation for every housing unit is one of the primary objectives of a sound housing policy, as well as of a public health policy.
<br />Ask the question, </p>
<div class="i1">"What is the household's main source of water supply for drinking, cooking, and laundry/bathing?</div><p>Write "X" in the corresponding box for the source of drinking water, as well as water for cooking, laundry and/or bathing. If there are two or more sources of water for drinking, cooking, laundry and/or bathing, report the source used most of the time during the past 12 months.
<br />The different sources of water are as follows:</p>
<div class="i1">[]1<span class="em">. Own use faucet, community water system </span>-- The household gets its water supply from a faucet inside the house/yard directly connected to a water pipeline from the community water system, such as the Maynilad, Manila Water Company, or other local water districts.<br />Note that a community water system using deep well as the source of water, should be reported under this category.<br />[] 2<span class="em">. Shared faucet, community water system </span>-- The household gets its water supply from the faucet of another household, establishment, or office, which is connected to the community water system.<br />[] 3. <span class="em">Own use tubed/piped deep well </span>-- Water is taken from a tubed/piped well, which is at least 100 feet or 30 meters deep, and for private use of the household/s in the same building or compound.<br />[] 4<span class="em">. Shared tubed/piped deep well </span>-- Water supply is taken from a tubed/piped deep well, which is at least 100 feet or 30 meters deep, and shared with another household, establishment, or office, or from a deep well which was constructed for public use.<br />[] 5. <span class="em">Tubed/piped shallow well </span>-- Water is taken from a tubed/piped well, which is less than 100 feet or 30 meters deep.<br />[] 6<span class="em">. Dug well </span>-- The household gets its water supply from a well, which may be provided with a protective device against contamination or pollution. An ordinary dug well ("balon") belongs to this type. An improvised dug well (dug and with water depository) which is provided with a pump and cover also belongs to this type<br /><br />[] 7. <span class="em">Protected spring </span>-- A spring protected from contaminations by a "spring box" which is typically constructed of brick, masonry, or concrete and is built around the spring so that water flows directly out of the box through a pipe without being exposed to outside pollution.<br />[] 8. <span class="em">Unprotected spring </span>-- A spring that is subject to runoff and/or bird droppings or animal/other external contaminations. Unprotected springs typically do not have a "spring box".<br />[] 9. <span class="em">Lake, river, rain, and others </span>-- The household gets its water supply from natural bodies of water, or water is accumulated from rainfall.<br />10. <span class="em">Peddler </span>-- The household gets its water from peddlers. These are the usual sources of water supply of households in low water pressure areas with no community water system.<br />11. <span class="em">Bottled water </span>-- Mineral/distilled water bought in bottles or gallons are included in this category. Water refilling stations are also included in this category.<br />12. <span class="em">Others, Specify </span>-- Includes other sources not mentioned in categories "01" to "11" above.</div>
