<p><span class="em">Urban RNVs and rural villages</span></p>
<p><span class="em">Question 8</span><div class="i1">How long have you lived in this town?</div><p>When you read out the question you must say the name of the place you are interviewing in.</p>
<p>In urban areas - Say the name of the town.</p>
<div class="i1">Example 'How long have you lived in Lae Town'.</div><p>In RNVs - Give name of RNV.</p>
<div class="i1">Example. 'How long have you lived in Misima Elantation'<br />or 'How long have you lived in Higaturu Oil Palm settlement'<br />or 'How long have you lived in Mt. Diamond Mission'.</div><p>In rural village only - Give name of District.</p>
<div class="i1">Example 'How long have you lived in Mumeng District'.</div><p>If the person was born here in the place where you are interviewing write B/H.</p>
<div class="i1">"Here" in urban areas means - this town<br />"Here" in RNVs means - this RNV<br />"Here" in Rural Villages means - this District.</div><p>If the person has come from somewhere else write down the number of years that the person has been living in that town or village.</p>
<p>Absences: If the person has been away from the place where they have been living for a long period then only count from when they come back again.</p>
<p>If the person has been away for a short period. E.g. like going on leave or going back to the village for a few weeks then do not worry about these absences.</p>
<p>Example
<br />Assume a person was living at a place for 5 years then went home for 3 years and has come back and been here for another 2 years. In this case we only write down the last period i.e. 2 years.</p>
<div class="i1">Only if the period is less than 1 year do we record months.<br />Otherwise leave the months space blank.<br />Always round the time the person lived here downwards. Thus a period of 1 year and 8 months becomes 1 year.<br />Persons in the place less than 1 month put 0 months. e.g. 1 weeks = 0 months.</div>
