A single person is anyone who has never been married and who does not live with a domestic partner.<br /><br />b) Married. Include in this category anyone who is still bound by legal ties<br /><br /><span class="pg">pg 26</span><br /><br />(religious or civil).<br /><br />c) Living in a Long-term Unmarried Relationship [<span class="lang">placé</span>]. <span class="lang">Placé</span> means any person living in a domestic partnership or declaring themselves to be in a domestic partnership.<br /><br />Even if the person has been married, he or she must be considered as living in a domestic partnership [<span class="lang">placé</span>] if he/she has left his/her legal partner to cohabit with an unmarried partner. The goal of this question is to find out the true marital status of the individual at the time of the census.
