Definition
Village or called by another name, hereinafter referred to as the village is the legal entity which has boundaries that are authorized to manage and take care of the interests of local communities based on the origin and local customs that are recognized and respected in the system of government of the Republic of Indonesia (Law. 32 of 2004). The village head is elected directly by the people in the village.
Note: The reality is there is still a village located in the town because of the facilities, infrastructure and other critical variables still reflects the characteristics of the village.
Urban Village is an area which is led by a headman as the district and the city or county under sub (Law no. 32 of 2004). Headman appointed by the Regent / Mayor.
Nagari is the unity of indigenous people who have areas with certain limits, has a wealth of property itself, the right to organize and take care of their own household (West Sumatra Provincial Laws No. 9 of 2000). Nagari Nagari led by a directly elected mayor by the people of these villages.
Others, when the status of governance in addition to village / district / villages, eg Transmigration Settlement Unit (UPT) or Disadvantaged Community Housing (PMT) which was fostered by the relevant departments.
