Definition
Se refiere al tipo de área a la que corresponde el empadronado o empadronada.

Área Urbana.- Corresponde a capitales provinciales y cabeceras cantonales.
Área Rural.- La conforman las parroquias rurales (Cabeceras Parroquiales y Resto de la Parroquia). Incluye además, la periferia de las capitales provinciales y cabeceras cantonales.
