    Abstract

To conduct statistical activities in various fields, BPS is responsible for the availability of data on an ongoing basis for sectoral and cross-sectoral development planning. The role of the data is very important as an indicator to observe, monitor, and evaluate the results of development.

Social data needs, particularly regarding the welfare of the people, must be met to determine whether the results of development can reach all levels of society, especially various aspects of subsistence such as food, clothing, shelter, education, health, security, and employment.

From the BPS survey, Susenas is the most extensive social data coverage. The data collected were related to the fields of education, health / nutrition, housing / environment, crime, social and cultural activities, consumption and household income, travel, and public opinion about their welfare. Among these data sets, only the data belonging to the basic data (core) are collected every year, namely the demographic and educational characteristics of the household members. The rest belong to the target data (modules) that average collection frequency - average every 3 years.

To meet the most urgent needs of the data, Susenas have a very important role. One of them is the availability of variable modules that are needed, so that the variable can be collected every year with interesting those variables into the kor. Questions in VSEN92.K List (Kor) are the set of questions to get information about various aspects of the welfare of the people, which can be (feasible), put in Susenas. The questions are selected from the module question that the feasibility has been tested in the field and it's expected can include the success factor of development.

Feasibility of the questionnaire was tested through two (2) trials. The first trial was conducted in May 1991 to 300 households in Banyumas, Central Java. Two kinds of kor versions, long and short, combined with various types of modules. The first test results show that the kor questionnaire is feasible to be used beyond the short version, with a few additional questions of core length. Core questionnaire results of these improvements are used for the second trial conducted in three provinces (West Sumatra, South Kalimantan and West Nusa Tenggara), with a total sample of about 8000 households. Susenas core questionnaire is a refinement of the core questionnaire used in the second trial.
