Place of birth<br /><br />This is the place where the person was effectively born, and not necessarily the place mentioned on his or her ID card. Ask the following question: "In which rural community, or in which country were you born?"<br /><br />Record the name of the [urban] "<span class="lang">Commune</span>", followed by the letter "C", or the name of the [rural] "<span class="lang">Communaute rurale</span>", followed by the letter "CR". If the name of the "<span class="lang">Communaute rurale</span>" is not known, write the name of the District <span class="lang">(Arrondissement)</span> of birth, followed by the letter "A". If the name of the District is not known, record the name of the Department, followed by the letter "D". If it is not known, record the name of the "Region", followed by the letter "R".<br /><br /><div class="i1">Example: A person was born in the Thies Commune: record "Thies C". If the person was born in the Thies Department: record "Thies D". If the person was born in the Thies Region, without knowing in which District or Department: record "Thies R".<br /><br />If the person was born abroad, record the name of the country of birth. Example: "France" for a person born in France, "The Gambia" for a person born in Gambia.</div><br /><br />Note: For the persons born outside Senegal, give the name of the country of birth, and not the name of the place of birth in that country.<br /></svar>
