La clasificación dependerá del mayor margen comercial obtenido por la empresa en las ventas de sus productos.
Si una empresa comercial, vende dos o más productos, para determinar la actividad principal, deberán investigarse, cual es el producto que genera el mayor margen comercial. El margen comercial está dado por la diferencia entre las ventas menos el costo de ventas.
