<p><span class="em">P33. How many children born alive has (the person) had?</span></p>

<p>Read the Question, wait for a response and ask how many children of each sex they had. Then, write that number in the corresponding space.</p>

<p>ATTENTION:</p>
<div class="i1">Each woman should indicate her own children by sex, either or not alive. They should not include the adopted children or those who belong to their husband's marriage to another woman. For example, the stepmothers should not consider their stepchildren as their children;<br />We consider as born alive the child who showed some vital sign at birth, i.e., breathing, crying or moving, even if he/she died shortly after;<br />You should not the children who were born dead, i.e., those who after the separation from the mother's body were not able to breathe or did not show any vital sign;<br />You should also not include those children who were born after TWELVE a.m. of August 1, 2007.</div><span class="ital">Examples of how to fill in the Enumeration Form:</span><div class="i1">a)If a woman has never had a child, fill in P33, P34, P35 and P36 as follows:</div><div class="i2">1. Male [0] [0]<br />2. Female [0] [0] and finish the interview with this woman;</div><div class="i1">b)If a woman has 3 children, from which 1 is a man and 2 are women, fill it in as follows:</div><div class="i2">1. Male [0] [1]<br />2. Female [0] [2]</div>
