<br />Able to read and write - If the individual knows how to read and write, even with difficulty, is able read a newspaper or write a simple sentence.
<br />Not able to read and write - If the individual does not know how to read and write any type of information, even if it is simple. If the person only knows how to write his/her name, numerals, reads but cannot write, or reads and writes memorized sentences, that person is considered as not able to read and write.
