Definition
GEO_CM1991 (V101_CM1991) indicates the region of Cameroon where the respondent was interviewed. DHS units in the 1991 Cameroon survey are equivalent to grouped regions, with the cities of Yaoundé and Douala combined into one region.
Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. There are also integrated variables, GEO_CM1991_2011 and GEO_CM2004_2011, that provide spatially consistent units over time. The Cameroon 1991 sample is excluded form GEO_CM2004_2011 due to inconsistent boundaries.
A GIS map for GEO_CM1991 (in shapefile format) can be downloaded from the DHS Program Spatial Data Repository [URL omitted from DDI.] Boundaries page.
