Description

Definition
FCKNOWPROBE (G101) indicates whether the woman acknowledged having heard about female circumcision, after being provided with a description of the practice. Women who did not answer "Yes" to FCKNOW (G100) were generally asked to provide a response to FCKNOWPROBE (G101).

Some samples consolidate the simple question and the descriptive probing question on the woman's awareness of female circumcision into one variable (See FCKNOW). FCKNOWPROBE (G101) was designed for samples that instead separate the two questions into distinct variables, with FCKNOW (G100) relating to the non-probing question and FCKNOWPROBE (G101) pertaining to the probing descriptive question.
