Definition
For young children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRTZ15 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment at a government hospital for this illness. This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.
Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
FEVTRTZ15 is combined with FEVTRTZ16 (parastatal hospital/clinic) in FEVTRPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 1991 and 1996 Tanzania samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FEVTRTZ15 are encouraged to review FEVTRPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
