Definition
For women who gave birth in the last 5 years and who received antenatal care during their most recent pregnancy, ANCTZ2_01 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported receiving care at a public "regional hospital." This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.
Some samples in the "ANC" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
ANCTZ2_01 is combined with ANCTZ1_01 (public referral/specialist hospital) and ANCTZ3_01 (public district hospital) in ANCPUBHOS_01 (all public hospitals) for the 2004 and 2010 Tanzania samples.
Additionally, ANCTZ2_01 is combined with ANCTZ1_01, ANCTZ3_01, and ANCTZ4_01 (public regional referral hospital) in ANCPUBHOS_01 for the 2015 Tanzania sample.
IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ANCTZ2_01 are encouraged to review ANCPUBHOS_01 for a more comprehensive response category.
