Definition

For young children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRTZ4 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment at a public referral regional hospital for this illness. This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.

Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

FEVTRTZ4 is combined with FEVTRTZ1 (public referral/specialist hospital) and FEVTRTZ2 (public regional hospital) and FEVTRTZ3 (public district hospital) in FEVTRPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2015 Tanzania sample.
