ATLS2 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a CHAL [Christian Health Association of Lesotho] health center as a place to be tested for the AIDS virus. This response category is country-specific to Lesotho.
Some samples in the "AT" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
ATLS2 is combined with ATLS1 (CHAL hospital) and ATLS3 (CHAL health post) in ATPRIVMIS (all faith-based facilities) for the 2014 Lesotho sample. ATLS2 is combined with ATLS1 in ATPRIVMIS for the 2009 Lesotho sample. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ATLS2 are encouraged to review ATPRIVMIS for a more comprehensive response category.
