Abstract | Botswana is widely seen as one of the economic success stories of Africa. However, behind the very real successes lie challenges both of reducing inequality, poverty and unemployment and of diversifying away from a continued dependence on mining. These challenges point to the importance of expanding and refocusing the national skills development system. The focus of this chapter is on progress in this regard to date, and on some of the unresolved challenges that remain. |
