Abstract | This paper introduces a range of microeconomic indicators which are used to measure development outcomes and the survey data which collects them. In particular it relates these indicators to discussions of resilience and to whether they may be suitable ex-ante measures. Individual indicators discussed include household consumption, household assets, measures of human capital (health, education and nutrition), food security and measures of coping (insurance and social capital). As well as individual indicators the paper presents some resilience indices which have been developed by other organizations. The paper finishes by giving an overview of the data sources available in ten case study countries |
