The presentation is divided into four parts. The first deals with the historical development of international health, followed by a brief explanation on some priority diseases and major public health efforts to control them. After that, I would like to share new concepts on the assessment of health systems performance. This will be followed by an analysis of health systems development in respect to three major functions. I will conclude with some
policy options for Indonesia.
