The present work intends to identify, describe and analyse the impact caused by radio broadcasting in the development of the city of Blumenau (SC), from the 60’s to the 70’s. The results indicate that the local economy got diversified, the tax collection increased, the urbanization process speeded up and the implementation of infrastructure works improved the living conditions of the population at that time. In this sense, one can realize that the advent of radio coincides with a period of economic, social and cultural advances.
