Abstract |
The paper, based on Census data, attempts to analyse the female participation in agriculture across districts of rural Uttar Pradesh over the decades and an explorative effort has been carried out to highlight the determinants of rural female work participation rate (RFWPR) in the state. It pertinently chalks out factors responsible for the low female participation in agriculture. Implementation of modern agricultural technologies do hamper RFWPR has been the hallmark of the study. It is the level of income of the household that drives females into workforce has been very blatantly denied in the paper. To sum up, we can configure that economic and socio-cultural factors together determine RFWPR in rural Uttar Pradesh. |
