In this paper the results of the first stage of a research project are discussed. The general objective of the
project is to identify and analyze the space and the type of treatment given to the religious diversity in broad
-
cast television news in Saltillo (RCG, Televisa). Topics to be addressed include: 1) introduction, 2) methodology
used to develop research, 3) some theoretical reflections on religious pluralism, 4) the reconstruction of the
increase of religious pluralism in Mexico, Coahuila, Saltillo and, finally, 5) analysis of the results of the field
work. The latter include the symbolic annulment of religious minorities in the two television news under study.
