Abstract | This thesis explores the role of a women’s empowerment program in sanctioning and reinforcing gendered discourses of neoliberalism and militarization. I apply a governmentality lens to analyze how the program’s structure, implementation, and omissions both reflect and reproduce neoliberal and militarized rationalities. Through the narratives of those involved, I explore the processes by which these rationalities came to exert themselves through the program, and how they were adapted and resisted by participants. |
