Abstract | Geography: Guatemala is located in Central America, bordering the North Pacific Ocean, between El Salvador and Mexico, and the Gulf of Honduras (Caribbean Sea) between Honduras and Belize. Climate in Guatemala is tropical with hot and humid weather conditions in lowlands and cooler in highlands. The country possesses wide variety of natural resources, among which nickel, rare woods, fish, and hydropower are the most prominent. Although Guatemala is located in the tropics, its two coastal zones and high-mountainous interior give it a variety of microclimates. Combined with access to both Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, the geographic location of the country presents important competitive edge over other countries of the region. |
