| Abstract | Population ageing was one of the main distinctive features of Lithuanian demographic development in the 20th century. The population census of 2001 confirmed that this fundamental demographic process in Lithuania continued apace in the 21st century. Attention is focused on the following characteristics of population age structure: the proportion of aged and the aging index. |
