Abstract |
The present study was undertaken with the main objective of analyzing the factors influencing farmers' participation in pineapple value chain in Alata Chuko Woreda, Sidama Zone. For the purpose of the study, both primary and secondary sources of data/information were comprehensively revised and analyzed. Secondary data was collected from Woreda Cooperative and Marketing Promotional Offices, Woreda Rural and Agricultural Development Office, Woreda's annual reports and related literature reviews whereas primary data was collected from 114-sampled pineapple producing farmers selected on proportionate to size sampling. The collected data were organized and interpreted using statistical tools such as percentage, frequencies, means and econometric model i.e. Binary logistic regression analysis. The result of binary logistic regression analysis shows that independent variables such as land size, credit facilities, access to market information, storage facilities and market prices were found to have significant positive influence on farmers? participation in value chain in the study area. Based on the findings, certain recommendations were forwarded to maximize the farmers' participation in pineapple value chain. |
