Abstract
The resonance of a building with the ground occurs when its free oscillations frequency is close to the ground?s one
(Frequency (Hz) is the number of oscillations per second of a building). The oscillation amplitudes then, increase to a
considerable extent and become a particularly destructive phenomenon, inducing more damage during seismic activity. We
present the results of the comparison between the values of the natural frequencies of the different categories of buildings
(ranging from a minimum value of 2.47 Hz and a maximum value of 14.3 Hz, extensive band), and the natural frequencies
of the soil [0.931 to 4,905 Hz]. The comparison of the frequency values in zone 3 and zone 4 (spatial frequency distribution
map of the city Imzouren) with those of some buildings suggests the possibility to have the phenomenon of resonance
ground-building occurrence in these areas in case of seismic shaking.
