Abstract | Rice production in Nigeria has increased over the last few decades due to the introduction of modern rice production technologies at an increase cost to the environment. It is predicted that during the coming decades, global climate are likely to affect agriculture including rice production. Conversely, rice production has its effects on the environment. A more environmentally sound rice production technology is recommended. This paper reviews problems of increase chemical inputs in modern rice production system on the environment in Nigeria and the urgent need for a new approach. |
