Abstract
Increasing level of employment in Nigeria makes necessary the consideration of alternative
avenues of sustainable income generating activities apart from formal education based
employment opportunities. The study examined generational skill transfer practices in Ondo
state, Nigeria. Using a multistage sampling technique, 120 respondents involved in six
vocationalskills were selected. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and chi square.
Majority (63.3%) of respondents were males with mean age of 43.2years. Respondents
involved in generational skill transfer were 61.7%, which was done after school hours
(48.6%). Only 52.5% desires their children to take up the vocation after them. Age of
respondents (l= 5.72, p < 0.05) and their number of children (l= 6.69, p < 0.05) were
significantly related to their involvement in generational skill transfer.
