Abstract
Sex ratio at birth (SRB) in China has begun to be higher since 1980's and kept rising
singularly, it reached 116.9 in 2000. Incidence of prenatal sex determination and sex-selective
abortion is the main reason of the high SRB. Female deficit of the 0-19 years old population has
already reached 1981, and the total amount is apt to increase. It is sure to influence the marriage
market.
