The rise of new middle classes during the past decade in Latin America has been extensively celebrated,
among other reasons because of the role that many believe middle classes play in democratic stability.
However, the vulnerability of the emerging middle class and the increase of social protest and
mobilizations have dampened the enthusiasm and strengthened the desire to consolidate the gains made. The
present study aims to identify if this discontent with the state performance strengthens or weakens the
satisfaction with democracy and others common issue link with the democracy Implementing statistical
models with survey data for 18 countries in the region.
