Abstract
A major component of the RIGA study was to create income aggregates from the data collected in the Living Standards Measurement Study surveys for a selected set of countries (the source data is listed in Table 1). The aim of the income aggregates was to provide annualized benchmark data on the living standards of the populations and to enable international comparison of these standards. This report represents a description of the overall and country-specific methodology used in constructing the household income aggregate components. Section II of this report discusses the general principles of estimating income aggregates and the basic issues underlying their creation. Section III summarizes and describes the principal categories of the income aggregate components that have been estimated.2 The final section of the report describes the data transformations and calculations procedures adopted in creating these aggregates. Country-specific issues and methodology modifications are addressed in the appendix to this document.
