Abstract | Family planning is a health and an economic priority for Pakistan. Contraceptive prevalence rate among 502 couples in a predominantly catholic urban slum was 31 percent. Working women, education and having more than two sons increased contraceptive use. In addition, the number of daughters was the most significant factor influencing contraception. There did not seem to be any religious objections to the use of contraception, which helped introduce family planning in this community. |
