Abstract
Development disparity is gradually becoming a crucial issue in the world which hinders socioeconomic growth. This paper compares urban infrastructural development among five City Districts in Punjab Province. Infrastructural development of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Multan are examined which are overseen by their respective Development Authorities and Municipal Administrations. Secondary data is used and indicators are selected to reflect the factual position. This study has used data of three time spans i.e. 2002, 2007 and 2012. Based on the investigation, it has been determined that development disparity has endured and Lahore sub-districts have stayed most developed in all time spans. Statistical assessments confirm that development changes among three time spans have remained significant. However, policy scrutiny with respect to indicators has shown that Development Authoritiesn and Municipal Administrations have been incapable to confront development issues despite the introduction of many national level policies and programs. Commendations for the least developed subdistricts are suggested for deterring inexorable implications of unequal development in future.
