Abstract |
A situational analysis of SMEs in the Pharmaceutical Industry is made, more competitive models used worldwide and after a comparative analysis of the model used by the World Economic Forum is chosen reviewed. The selected model bases its analysis on 12 pillars i) Institutions ii) Infrastructure iii) Macroeconomic environment iv) Health and primary education v) Higher education and training vi) Goods market efficiency vii) Labor market efficiency viii) Financial market development ix) Technological readiness x) Market size xi) Business Sophistication xii) Innovation. This model allows determining competitiveness assigning a relative weight to each pillar and each subscript resulting in a Global Competitiveness Index. By defining the score on each pillar of Industry Pharmaceutical SMEs it can be compared with the result of the score obtained by Ecuador in the Global Competitiveness Report. This model can help owners, managers, administrator´s reference for issues and potential to improve competitiveness in SMEs in the Pharmaceutical Industry. The final part proposes strategies that allow them to be more competitive industry companies analyzed. |
