Abstract
Household non-remunerated work is usually conducted by women, with is a contribution to the
economical and productive development of the country. Household work is not included in official
statistics and is excluded from the economical science as a productive activity. In spite referred work
grants a subsidy to costs and contributes for the accumulation of capital and the obtaining of capital
gain, because it is deprived of a value, because it is not included in the labor market. On the other hand,
the assignment of social roles in relation sex exposes a patriarchal structure crossed by cultural and
ethnics factors in the Ecuadorian society, that includes inequality in diverse ways. Such relations are
historic and changing, in accordance to culture, space and time.
