Abstract | According to data from the National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas) in 2014, 47.48% elderly people are still working to fulfill their needs. This elderly group is seen as a group who are at risk of health problems, including physical health and mental health. The most often mental health for them is depression. According to the Disability Adjusted Life Year (DA LY), This problem of depression will rank second in the world in 2020. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relation between depression and work status of the elderly in Posyandu Lanjut Usia Mojo Surabaya. This study uses an analytic comparasion study design with observational studies, crosssectional research methods, nonpropability sampling techniques, especially consecutive sampling of the elderly in Posyandu Lanjut Usia Mojo Surabaya with a total sample of 40 elderly. Analysis of data using statistical Mann Whitney U Test. The Results are 35,0% of elderly people are still working and 65,0% of elderly people are not working or retired. While 37.5% of the elderly experienced depression and 62.5% of the eldery not having a depression. From the Mann Whitney test obtained p = 0.004 (p <0.05), so H0 is rejected, meaning that there is a difference between the level of depression elderly who are not working (retired) and the level of depression elderly who are working. |
