Two recent press releases from the
Central Statistics Offi ce (CSO)
produce a telling story on how the
statistics on India’s growth have been
unfolding after rebasing the National
Accounts Statistics (NAS) to 2011–12
prices. The fi rst release (CSO 2016a) is
particularly important as it introduces
revisions in the estimates of national
income and related aggregates starting
right from the base year 2011–12, while
the second one (CSO 2016b) provides
advance estimates (AEs) of national
in come for 2015–16, taking the above
revised estimates (REs) as the base.
