Abstract
Objective: To determine the prevalence of depression and associated factors of personnel working in the Military Hospital, Cuenca 2014.

Method and materials: a crossectional study was conducted. In total, 114 people were studied. Applied a validated instrument as is the Hamilton Scale for depression. Also, we studied the variables age, sex, residence, occupation and level of instruction as associated factors. The statistical analysis was performed using SPSS v. 15.0. To determine the association used the statistical OR, with its 95% confidence interval. Association was considered statistically significant p values <0.05.

Results: The majority of the population studied is between 25 and 39 years 65.8 %, women represents the 52.6 %, 56.1 % have a higher level of instruction and 28.2 % are military of all ranks. The prevalence of moderate and severe depression is 25.40 %, with 58.6 % in men, 34.5 % in workers and more frequent among those 25 to 39 years with 62.1 %. No statistically significant association was found with the age, sex, level of education and occupation.
