Abstract | This pilot study assesses existing statistical infrastructures and systems for the collection, analysis, and sharing of international labour migration data in the countries of South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, with particular attention to topics like brain drain and remittance flows. A number of data sources and limitations were found, and recommendations made to improve existing data sources, develop new data sources, and improve communications between country stakeholders and between neighbouring countries. The establishment of regionally coherent and coordinated data collection and sharing mechanisms are critical for these endeavors. |
