Abstract
Impacts of climate change on species within tropical mountain ecosystems
such as the Rwenzori’s are important to study. Mountains are globally
important and generally recognized as fragile ecosystems with very vulnerable
biota. Their responses to climate change and human disturbance are unclear.
A better understanding of the functioning of fragile Mountain ecosystems in
view of threats such as climate change would be beneficial for their
conservation. The present study on the impacts of climate change on species of
restricted range was done in the Rwenzori Mountains National Park (RMNP) in
western Uganda. It is a world heritage site and is habitat to several species of
conservation concern globally; some of them with restricted ranges.
