Abstract | Smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol and drug use (risky health behaviours) are emerging problems among young people in Indonesia. Most concerning is the early initiation of smoking as early as 12 years of age and that living with parents compared to other living arrangements is not a safeguard against the use of drugs. Forms of risky health behaviours are highly correlated. Being involved in any risky health behaviour makes it more likely that a person engages in a combination of risky health behaviours. A concerted educational campaign on risky health behaviour and its health consequences is required from primary school onwards. |
