Abstract | To address the increasing rates of divorce and marital dissatisfaction in Cambodian marriages, a 1-day workshop was designed to enrich the marital relationships of Cambodian couples. The workshop was designed to address cultural and structural challenges unique to working with Cambodian populations. The workshop elements and materials, based on the research of John Gottman, attachment theory, and mindfulness techniques, were presented to an expert panel of mental health clinicians, international aid workers, and community leaders with experience working with Cambodian individuals and couples. The reviewers’ evaluations were collected to help determine the possible effectiveness of the workshop in a Cambodian context and address any potential cultural and/or structural issues. Implications for pilot studies as well as future research were also presented. |
