Abstract
This work aims to determine the use of medicinal plants in the Mixteca Alta region
in Oaxaca. This is done through its main actors: healers and patients involved in
the use and conservation process of traditional medicine. Following a qualitative
methodology, the most common ailments such as respiratory and gastrointestinal
diseases were identified based on the administration of ten interviews per community
and an interview conducted with traditional healers. The use of medicinal plants
is an alternative to the lack of modern health services. It is in this context in which
ethnobotany becomes an important and strategic hub for research and conservation
of medicinal plants.
