Abstract
The most current issue is about the people who had settled first in Indian sub continent. It has been suggested that the Austro Asiatic linguistic family are perhaps the first to settle in India and the Palaeoanthropological evidences suggest the earliest settlement probably around 60,000 years BC. Homo sapiens evolved in Africa and replaced archaic human in other parts in world. One of the first waves of out of Africa migration came into India. India served as a major corridor for dispersal of modern humans. Mitochondrial DNA sequence data of hypervariable segment (HVS-1) and Ychromosomal haplogroup data indicate that the Austro Asiatic tribal population may have been the most ancient inhabitant of India.
